One of the most popular Pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim has made a collaboration with the blockchain-based healthcare platform Solve.Care.

Boehringer, which is one of the top 20 pharma companies in the world and Solve.Care are planning to develop a blockchain and crypto powered network for trusted sharing of data about patients and diabetes. According to the Solve.Care blockchain platform, the new healthcare network is referred to as the Diabetes Care Administrative Network.

The main purpose of the network is to enhance the well-being of patients with diabetes, who might also have a high risk of cardiovascular disease. The goal is to increase awareness about the link between diabetes and heart disease and support engagement between patients and providers to actively address diabetes and linked cardiovascular complications.

As per press release, the network will allegedly utilize Solve.Care's coordination tool known as dubbed care. Wallet to assist patients going through chronic conditions and help them optimize and coordinate care with their families and physicians.

Pradeep Goel, CEO of Solve.Care stated,

“The Diabetes Care Administration Network will help bridge a knowledge gap by providing a platform which offers vital information on diabetes and cardiovascular diseases in an easily accessible manner. This is invaluable in the healthcare ecosystem as it allows patients to gain a better understanding of their disease while also coordinating their care needs.”

Firstly, the network will be available to around 25,000 patients via the Arizona Care Network (ACN), one of the most popular care organization in the U.S. and a current client of Solve.Care.

Vice President, Cardiometabolic Marketing, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals said, "We are proud to join Solve.Care and the Arizona Care Network to provide patients and providers with additional solutions to help address diabetes and cardiovascular disease. This program will help ensure both patients and providers are proactively addressing life-threatening cardiovascular complications associated with this chronic condition.”

The Care network is anticipated to become live on or before the end of 2019.

Boehringer Ingelheim is engaged in initiatives focused at exploring Blockchain execution in healthcare. It has teamed up with SAP, AmerisourceBergen, GlaxoSmithKline and build a blockchain based solution which will help to monitor and authenticate pharmaceutical packaging returned from hospitals and chemists to wholesalers before products are resold.

In February 2019, Boehringer Ingelheim has made a collaboration with IBM Canada to look after the use of blockchain technology in clinical trials.
