Samsung Launches Ethereum Development Kit for Blockchain and Dapp Creation

Jul 11 2019

South Korean tech giant, Samsung has launched the beta version of the blockchain SDK for the Ethereum blockchain accessible to partner developers. The kit consists of an extra tool for dApps and blockchain mobile app development on the newest Galaxy smartphones.

According to the announcement, Samsung Blockchain SDK enables account management and backup, payment, and digital signature facilitation, Samsung Keystore, and various other cold wallet support. The page devoted to SDK also says that it is a superset of all the SDKs along with Samsung Blockchain Keystore SDK.

Samsung said that the beta version of the blockchain software development kit (SDK) is open for anyone who requests early-access to the tools. The kit portrays the next step in Samsung's drive to allow Ethereum functionality on its Galaxy S10e, S10, S10+, S10 5G, and Samsung Galaxy Fold Smartphones. The firm said in May that it will soon provide crypto features in its budget smartphones.

Samsung stated, "In addition, DApp does not need to make separate types of transaction that follows coin types by themselves anymore. The SDK offers a payment gateway for cryptocurrency remittance with its UI. To use this payment solution, DApp needs a Keystore."

Here, Samsung SDK allows users various ways to manage user accounts, authorize digital signature for transactions, and handle transaction data. The kit enables users to link to external cold wallets like Trezor or Ledger devices.

Those who obtain partner status from Samsung can also get extra features from the kit. Partners can also use a "blockchain specialized browser" for web DApps, which will have features to handle crypto payments with ease, and tools for anticipating fees using live crypto exchange rates.

Moreover, partners will be able to get transaction history from Samsung's "blockchain proxy node." It's not known is Samsung is using its own Ethereum node or service providers.

These features help to decrease the price of developing dApps on supported mobile devices, stated Samsung. The latest initiative by Samsung is followed by various other Crypto-related Developments. Before few months, the firm said that it would support crypto key storage.

The feature would allow a trusted execution environment, a safe area present in the phone's main processor, which enables the device to handle private blockchain data more safely. Samsung stated that this feature would offer “impenetrable security unlike ever before, protecting it from data breach, malware or other threats.”
